75 Bible Verses That Got Me Through Med School Exams

I must confess that during exams, I sometimes find myself spending less time with God.

Tired from hours of cramming, I start getting too tired to spend time with God after a long day’s work. I begin to lose my priorities. I unintentionally pack my days so full with study that there’s no room left for him. Before I know it, my usual routine of setting aside time for the Lord each day flies out the window. It’s not an intentional decision to turn from God… but an insidious process that happens when I lose my priorities in the face of looming barrier exams.

But every year when this happens, one particular verse comes back to me and grabs my attention. It is a famous one which has been the recurring theme of my medical school life for the last five years:

Matthew 6:33-34
Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

When I remember this passage, I remember what is really important in life. I realise anew what is the true key to success. What amount of human effort can ever be more effective than the help that God gives to anyone who seeks his kingdom?

Every time I’ve tried to live my life in accordance with this passage, I’ve seen God do things which I thought weren’t possible. This whole blog is a testimony of those stories. Now, as I look back after five years of exams, I realise again that my success in exams so far has come from seeking the Lord, not from trying to achieve out of my own human strength.

So with my final exams of medical school coming up in six days, I’ve decided to post a collection of my favourite Bible verses for exams (categorised by topic) that have helped me through every exam so far from the last five years. This collection of Bible verses for exams are as much a reminder to myself, as an encourager to other students facing exams.

Lord, help me to take a break from the text books every so often and remember where my greatest help comes from:

Psalm 121:2
My help comes from the Lordthe Maker of heaven and earth.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT STRESS, ANXIETY AND DOUBT

You never, ever have to be afraid of exams.

Hebrews 13:6
So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Proverbs 3:25-26
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared.

I will not worry about what is outside my control. God is fully in control of my exams, my destiny, my results.

Psalm 139:16
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

You weren’t chosen because you were perfect for the task. God deliberately chose in spite of your weaknesses.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.

 Isaiah 41:9-10
I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

2 Corinthians 2:15-17
15…Who is equal to such a task?… 17 …in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

It’s normal to have times of depression. But God will rescue you out of them!

“Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”

1 Kings 19:3-8
Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you. So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

God will help you to persevere – in hardships, distress and sleeplessness.

2 Corinthians 6:4-10
Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 5…in hard work, sleepless nights through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report…yet we live on; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

You do not face exams alone: GOD is right by your side fighting for you.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I refuse to dwell on my past failures, my past mistakes, or the impossibility of my circumstances.

Philippians 3:13-14
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

I will recall past victories and remember that God has been faithful to me in the past.

Psalm 77:7-12
To this I will appeal:
the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will consider all your works
and meditate on all your mighty deeds.

1 Samuel 7:12
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

I will not evaluate my circumstances with worldly eyes.

2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

For we live by faith, not by sight.

God gives you sleep and rest and peace.

Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

Psalm 3:5
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

I’m allowed to acknowledge that life is hard. But through my suffering, I see God.

Psalm 34:19 (HCSB)
19 Many adversities come to the one who is righteous,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.

2 Corinthians 4:7-11
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT MOTIVATION

I will work to the best of my ability because I am working for God, not myself, or anyone else.

Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

God has a GOOD purpose for your life in this journey.

Psalm 138:8 (ESVUK)
The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures for ever.

Philippians 2:13
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him.

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

These trials and tribulations are God’s training for the purposes he has for you, both now, and in the future.

6 …for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Song of Songs 3:7-8
Look! It is Solomon’s carriage,
    escorted by sixty warriors,
    the noblest of Israel,
all of them wearing the sword,
    all experienced in battle,
each with his sword at his side,
prepared for the terrors of the night.

The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

I will be faithful to the academic calling that God has placed on my life.

Matthew 25:14-21
14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more...

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

One day, God will show you that all your effort and struggle was worth it.

 2 Corinthians 4:16-17
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

“In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.”

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.

God grants you favour in the eyes of your examiners.

Joseph found favor in Potiphar’s eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.
The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel…

God increases your ability to study.

Daniel 1:17
To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning.

Proverbs 2:6
For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Deuteronomy 33:11
Bless all his skills, Lordand be pleased with the work of his hands.

He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills

God helps the powerless against the mighty.

2 Chronicles 14:11
11 Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.”

Be confident, regardless of my human ability, because your confidence is in God.

2 Corinthians 5:8-9
We are confident, I say…we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.
Psalm 18:29
With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.

God renews your energy levels.

Isaiah 40:30-31

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT PERSPECTIVE

Never lose sight of what is really important. Exams are temporary. But serving and seeking God has value for eternity.

Matthew 6:33-34
Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Psalm 105:4
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.

Never let exam stress make you forget to count the blessings in life.

Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Colossians 2:6-8
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Psalm 136:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.

Never listen to worldly advice. When everyone around me is doing things their own way, I will succeed in a different way – trusting in God, not in myself.

Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 44:5-7
Through you we push back our enemies;
through your name we trample our foes.
I put no trust in my bow,
    my sword does not bring me victory;
but you give us victory over our enemies,
you put our adversaries to shame.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Psalm 33:16-19
16 No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
Psalm 91:7
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

God can do miracles. Impossible is nothing. God is stronger than you think. Exams are nothing to God.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Jeremiah 32:27
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

God knows best. If his will is for me to fail, it’s because he has his reasons. And I know one day, whether on heaven or on earth, I will realise his good reasons.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Psalm 27:13-14
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

God has joy over me and loves me and gives me joy no matter what the outcome of the exams are.

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Colossians 3:2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Psalm 147:10-11
10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
    nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.

  3. Nathan, your compilation of bible verses for med school exams is amazing! Thank you so much. I am a first year medical student from Hong Kong and I’m also a Christian. Right now I’m going through three very important exams this week and I am absolutely stressed out and start losing motivation to study. Thank you so much for the encouragement and it really motivates me to focus my eyes on the Lord rather than relying on my own knowledge and understanding. It certainly makes me reflect on the blessings that God has put in my life. I’m revitalised and recharged now. Amen! Bless you xx

    • Hello, thanks for writing from Hong Kong! I pray that God would take you through all of your exams as you trust in him. I think first year is the big year where if you learn to trust in him with your studies, you will be able to trust him every year which is a huge stress reliever for medical school. Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares for you! (1 Peter 5:7). Great to hear from you. Bless you friend ~N

    • Hi Nathan, I am very grateful and you don’t know how you have helped me to strongly believe in God during my exam and not to lean on my own understanding. You have really helped my unbelief although I’m not studying medicine but I feel I’m blessed through you. May the good Lord bless you and may He waters you back

  4. Hi Nathan,
I’m not even in medical school yet. I’m still fighting my way through pre-med (junior year). At times, I stop and ponder at the long journey I have ahead of me and it seems so difficult and quite impossible to be honest. However, I am (we are) so blessed to have God in our hearts as our never failing strength that keeps us going and to have Him by our side all day and every moment.
A verse that the Bible that really touched my heart was “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27) This just demonstrates God’s unmeasurable amount of power. Through God, all things are possible and nothing can impede what God has planned for us. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Therefore, being a Christian believer knowing nothing in life is a confidence and all controlled by God I believe God made his way for me to stumble upon your blog. Not only me, by many other individuals to see God’s glory and power through these verses. I encountered another push of encouragement I needed to keep me going. I already bookmarked your page. You can be certain I’ll be coming back to seek a verse or two, three when all seem lost. So I thank you for taking the time to write out these verses. You have no idea how valuable they are.
    May God bless you, Amen.

  14. Hi,
Thank you so much for putting these scriptures up. I searched for encouraging verses for exams and this came up. I’m sooo grateful. I realised I’ve been relying on my own ‘intelligence’ instead of relying on God. Things haven’t been going well and I know it’s because I have put my AS Level exams (UK) before God. These verses have put me back on track and I’m ready to complete my AS levels and hopefully get into medical school just like you. Thank you once again and thank God for His never ending love.

  15. Thank you for sharing these wonderful verses, I’m currently studying for examinations and have been finding it very tough. They have really helped me to realise that I need to spend more time building my relationship with Him rather than panicking and trying to get by on my own,
    God bless xx

  16. I am a Christian and a first year medical student from India. My semester exams start tomorrow. I needed something to steady my nerves and these verses were a great help. Thank you.

  17. Hello! I’m a second year pre-med student in New Zealand, and currently going through so much stress and cramming! Begs me to wonder how much harder it’s going to be in medschool. But, this post has reminded me how big our God is! Thanks so much and God Bless 😀

  18. Nathan!
You are blessing people all the way in Texas!
This blog opened my eyes and gave me so much comfort, its great to know that our God is so great, loving, and powerful!
Thank you so much for reminding us of it.
I hope you are doing well, God is using you in many ways.

  19. Hi Nathan,

Just wanted to add on to the list of thank yous above:) This was truly what I needed. As a premed student this journey has felt incredibly long and wearisome and sometimes I feel completely hopeless and overwhelmed. Your post has reminded me that my eyes should be upon the Lord and His faithfulness. I thank the Lord for you. Your words were very relatable and encouraging.

May the Lord bless your future richly and give you all the favour you need.

    Cheers from Australia:)

  20. Hi Nathan, I just want to praise God for the encouragement I have received through these scriptures. I’m now holding a good 4 verses close to my heart. I’m in my third year of med school and I have just failed my exam. I’m looking unto God and I want Him to show His power though my weakness. It’s hard but I’m trying to look unto God and to trust Him. I just want Him to take over. Thank God for enabling you to post thses verses. Good Bless you

  21. Hi Nathan,
I saw someone shared this on facebook today. Thank you so much for putting everything together here. It’s really encouraging to see someone in the medical profession that really rely on God. I am in my 4th year in medical school in Malaysia and things were never easy for me. I am not particularly bright or hardworking but while reading this post, I began to remember how God showed favour upon me and helped me all these years without fail. I feel its very easy for Christians who work in this field to depend on their knowledge rather than God in exams and working life while some even drifted away from God for whatever reason. I hope you’ll be able to shine the light of Jesus in your working field and draw your colleagues to Jesus.
You make me want start writing my blog again 😀 Thank you again and please continue writing.
May you continue to seek and rely on God in all things 😀

  22. Good day y’all its really been great going through all the scriptures. wow sincerely I was blessed. Am currently a law student in Nigeria in Africa whom is having his second year exams sooner or later now. keep doing the good work of faith. may Almighty God continually strengthen you the more.

Hi Nathan God bless you bro!
I’m reblogging your wonderful post. As I read it I so related to all the scriptures you shared knowing that they flowed out of your personal; experiential and experimental knowledge; of God being intimately involved with your journey through med school. Of course Our Father spoke to me through this fine post of yours as well.

You see I’m in an exam, a test myself in the school of life as I’m being forced to come to terms with and overcome some major upheaval in my personal life over the course of the last year. But the LORD has given me every reassurance that He is indeed making everything work together for my good.

Keep up the good work my brother… more LOVE, more POWER more of Jesus in our lives!!!

  26. Hi Nathan,
Greetings from beautiful Barbados; Gem of the Caribbean! I’m sending this post to all my contacts because it has application and relevance to all of life’s challenges, tests, obstacles and adversities which are all sure to encounter in the SCHOOL of LIFE!!!

How blessed and fortunate therefore, are those who accept, allow and embrace the Principal and Chairman of the Board of Management; in this the supreme school of schools, as their Heavenly Father and Father of their spirits through and in Jesus Christ!!!

    Sons of God arise!!!

  27. Hi Nathan! I’m a first year medical student studying in India. I found your blog right before my finals while I was looking for inspiration through God’s word. And I am so thankful to him for making me stumble upon this. For the past few days I’ve been coming back everyday to read a few words to rest my soul. Tomorrow is my anatomy final. The scariest one by far and because of the anxiety I had a complete breakdown. However I came back to your post and read through the verses and I was filled with newfound calm and vigor. Thank you so so much for this wonderful post, you have no idea how much it has helped me. God bless you in all your endeavors!

  28. Nathan,
I was studying for the MCAT this morning and got really frustrated! So I googled God and school exams and you showed up..when actually God showed up! Thanks!

  29. Thank you so much for this amazing compilation of scripture. Its exactly talking about me! I was searching google for bible encouragement for exams&your link came up first. I have been so afraid of the medical exams which are also my 5th year exams &also in 6days just like it was for you when u wrote this. I believe God really led me to read this. I know it is well . Although I have so much to study&i have not been preparing adequately I trust in the Lord. Thanks for sharing. I’m blessed. God richly bless u!!!
    Kind regards from Zambia,Africa.

  30. I’m thrilled to see that God has worked in diverse ways to bring His words to accomplishment in our lives, also serving as a means to encourage others. He NEVER fails. I am expecting my step 1 result in weeks time. Honestly, I kind of went blank several times but I know God was there all the time. Went through the bible passages here before the exam but I almost got discouraged after the exam. But then, His words gave me courage again cos I know the things God had done for me in the past. I decided to share my story of going blank and picking random letters in the exam so that when I receive my wonderful pass result, the same people will praise God and know that He works in mind blowing ways, not based on our human efforts. Most importantly, when you have surrendered your life to Him.

  31. Thank you Nathan for reminding us of the awesome God we serve and His ability to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ask or think. Today is the day before my general surgery board exams and I needed a quick reference of scriptures to encourage myself on today and during the exam. I am walking and faith and claiming the victory knowing that my God is sufficient and has already gone before me to work everything out. May God continue to bless you abundantly on your journey!

  32. I take my MCAT next friday and these bible verses have helped me so much today while I’ve been stressed to the max. Thank you so much for this post it is exactly what I needed aND searched for today 🙂

  33. Your blog really encouraged me! I have a professional certification exam in 2 weeks and was looking for a scripture to stand on. I have been studying and preparing but still feel a bit shaky in one area. Your blog reminded me that God is in control. Bless you!

  34. Thank you so much for posting these up! Your words and the bible verses have been a source of encouragement and motivation since i cam across it 2 days ago. I have used it for my personal devotions in the morning and nights when I feel like fear and anxiety about my upcoming usmle exams are suppressing my faith . May God continue to bless you! Thank you again

  36. I will be ungrateful if I didn’t drop my comments on this post. Am a Christian from Nigeria. Am about to write a challenging examination which is coming up in one week time. Am worry, afraid and my mind is being trouble as the day getting nearer. Then I decided to Google bible verses and prayer for success in examination when I came across your post. Thanks to your write up, with these my mind is now at ease cause am now trusting God more for success toward the examination, which I believe He will grant me. Thanks and God bless you and me too

  37. Thank you Nathan.

I am preparing to attempt a professional accounting paper a second time and I’ve been ‘threatend’ by my boss that failure is not an option or I lose my job and that has caused some fear in me even though I’ve been trusting God all the way… The scripture ‘the Lord is with me, I will not be afraid, what can mere mortal do to me’ has re-energized my faith in God’s ability to help me come out victorious.
    Thank you for this post!

    • Hi Nathan thanks for those encouraging words, I have had my trials and tribulations! I was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1995 a freshman in college started kidney dialysis in 1996 all while continuing my education as a pre dental student. I finally received a transplant in 1999 attended a University and graduated in 2003, Started a dental post baccalaureate program, the kidney had a growth and I lost is in 2004 withdrew from school and started back Kidney dialysis. April 28 2014 I had open heart surgery and Feb 8 2015 had my second kidney transplant. I am still striving for my goals. I am considered a medical miracle by my Physicans I tell them it wasn’t me it is GOD! People keep God first! I applied to Dental School and I’m currently studying for the DAT, yes it’s been rough but with God by your side you can do anything just keep him first! I continue to ask him for wisdom and knowledge of the stresses before me! If God is for you who can be against you????

      AMEN.

      • Hi, I’d just like to say thanks. I stumbled onto your page. Like you, I’m also going through med school with exams in about 2 weeks. This post has been such a blessing. Thanks very much. 🙂

      • God bless you for this wonderful testimony, William! You are truly a blessed child of God, and a living proof of His power and fatherly love. May God remain your strength, and may His favors remain your portion. I wish you all the best in your dental studies. Remain blessed

      • We the faithful vessels of the Holy Spirit are always looking for that extra spiritual power to be closer with GOD, even if it is just to remind us what we already know.
The world around us look’s dark and scary and unholy we feel alone, like we are the only vessel that carry’s the Holy Spirit in to the darkness to be a beacon for evil and not good. We don’t see the purpose of the beacon for all it does is attracts evil. But we are seen by others and a seed of the Holy Spirit is planted and it will grow in them without us knowing. So we must always look for that extra spiritual power to keep that beacon shining in the darkness.
        Thanks

  55. Hi Nathan,

Writing all the way from India here. Tomorrow I have an exam. Its a subject I am weak at and am really scared to face it. I found myself very anxious and distressed. Like you mentioned above I had almost forgotten to turn to God because of the university life. Reading this post made me realize I am nothing without God. Thank you so much for the inspiring post

  56. This site is actually a blessing, a friend sent this to me today right before my test and its honestly restoring my confidence. Medical seems impossible but I am trying to focus on the fact that I am right where I belong and that I cannot skip the struggle. Great post !!!

  57. As my daughter begins pharmacy school and encounters her first “hell week” today, I was searching for scriptures to both encourage her in the academic demands and to remind her to seek strength in God and His Word and found this blog. What a treasure trove that I can now share with her!! Thank you, in the midst of the demands on your own life, for taking the time to encourage others! I know she will be encouraged to have another fellow Christian student speak truth into her life, even via a blog, and I can send this to her with confidence knowing that another student in a similar situation found these particular verses applicable and helpful. I love that you added insight and made it specific to exams and school, but preserved the integrity of scripture and pointed it all back to God. May God continue to draw you near to Him, and I know you will be a blessing to the medical field!

  58. I come across this by chance. I rarely put comments on random sites but this is one of the rare situations because your writing actually pierce through my soul. Maybe God really lead me here. Was looking for verses to encourage someone but behold, I am the one who is deeply encouraged. This is really a great help for me. God’s words are so comforting. Now, I’m preparing for my board exam (dental) this coming December. This is it! God bless you, Nathan. You are a blessing. May God give you the desires of your heart. I can sense that you are going to be a great Physician. Or you already are? Congrats then. 🙂

  59. Nathan,
Thank you so much for this post. I kid you not, i’m studying for Step 1 after multiple failures because of fear. Regardless of governing bodies telling me those failures are going to keep me from becoming a physician; I keep pressing forward because prior to the first attempt, I was spiritually lost. Since, I have found my way back to God and everything points towards me not giving up. I literally googled “scripture to read before studying for an exam” and your blog was the first one that came up! I don’t believe in coincidences so, there you go- divine intervention. I believe this time being spiritually in tune; I will pass the exam & step 2 CK and be a testament that with God you can achieve everything. I know i’m meant to be a practicing physician and I will obtain a residency next year. How? I don’t know & i’m not going to worry about it now. I just know the right people will come into my life and see that the exams do not define me; and someone will offer me a chance to prove myself without judgement. Thank you so much for this blog; I feel so motivated!

    Blessings!

  60. Dear Nathan,

What a powerful blessing your blog and post are.
THANK YOU with all my heart.
My daughter has midterm pre-med exams and is going through that academic stress, and looked in the web for bible verses to support and encourage her, and your site showed up. God is wonderful! He directed me to this deeply inspiring and encouraging Truth & Promises-based blog….more than I expected.
I pray our Loving God keep this beautiful and humble heart of yours. May the Lord bless you, your medical career, and your gifted writing in abundant, beautiful and powerful ways 🙂
You have blessed me and my daughter in such a way!
You honor God, God will honor you!

Thank you for your post. I have been struggling with my fear of taking exams but, your post inspired and motivated me to have faith in myself and in God. God bless you!

  66. Hi Nathan,
I’m currently praising the Lord for speaking through you to me this morning. I’m a nursing major and right now I am failing my adult health class. I have an exam this morning and I woke up an hr and a half before I needed to be, intending on studying some more. But instead, I stumbled across this website and spent time talking with God. This has totally changed my view on passing and studying. I’ve felt so inadequate, tired, and weak these past couple of months. I’ve been trying to search for my own strength and motivation to get me through but it isn’t working, of course. I needed these simple reminders that my strength comes from the Lord. These nursing exams are nothing to him. I desire to become a medical missionary nurse and I know the Lord will equip me to do so. Thank you! Continue to let the Lord speak through you. You’re helping many!

  67. God bless you so much for such a fantastic blog as yours. I am preparing for an examination and also a speaker to the saints of God on the need to involve God in the study during the examinations and I am really blessed to have come across such a blog as this…all people i will speak to also bless you for such a blog.
We love this blog of yours and God bless you and continue to support you so that you would touch more lives with your experiences as far a God is CONCERN!
    Amen.

  68. Thanks Nathan! I’m in need of enlightenment and inspiration in taking my exams tomorrow. The bible verses answered everything! Praise be to God

I’m praying over them now and thanking God that you compiled this post!

  92. Hi Nathan,

I just wanted to express my gratitude for your blog, but especially this post, as it comes at the most needed and opportune time. These verses are a great encouragement to me as I battle the encumbering worries and doubts while preparing for law and business school. Like you, I wish glorify God with my work so that I can “…defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:9). I will continue to look on these passages in the days ahead. Many thanks, once again. May healing flow from your hands.

    • Praying for you! In a similar situation myself. He sees our hearts; for that I am so thankful.

God is SO good ❤ This post is just another reminder of that.

  93. you have no idea how desperately thankful I am for this post. Just stumbled on it before starting to study…thank you. thank you for all the reminders, and that God is using you to draw others closer to Him.

Seriously, God bless you, and may all the glory go to Him.

  94. Nathan,

I just want to thank you for taking the time to put together this blog. I am currently in nursing school and with exams and quizzes each week I am forever letting my stress get the best of me. I was seeking for ways of motivation and confirmation that I am on the right path in life. When I came acrossed your blog I was able to find both of those in your readings. I as well feel that over these last couple months I have placed a higher priority on my schooling than I have for God. This was an amazing reminder that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the Lord and in order for me to continue this journey I need to remember the one that made this all possible. All day I have been stressing over an exam that I need to pass tomorrow and it was not until I read your message that the stress was lifted off my chest. I am very thankful for your words of encouragement and for reassuring me that I am not the only one who is going through this. Like it was stated earlier you really have no idea the lives you have touched and the impact you have made on people just by sharing your story. Thank you very much!!

  95. Hi Nathan!
It’s 3 am in Germany, can’t sleep and I am reading this article. I will have a test the day after tomorrow and I should say that I am in a state of super panic. Actually I googled and then such a blessing I found your blog. Thank you for sharing these verses. I think I can sleep now. Hahahaa. And next time I will back again to your blog and check your music. Keep doing work for His glory!

  96. Hi Nathan ,
God has used you to bless many souls.
My prayer is I won’t be left out in testifying to God’s goodness.
In Nursing school & stressed out not sure anymore if am on the right track..
Was looking up scriptures for excelling in school when your page popped up.
I sure know there is a purpose for viewing your blog

  97. Thank you so much for writing this blog. You’ve blessed so many including myself.

I pray all I well with you now and I declare that you shall prosper forever and ever.

  98. I had to come back here and leave my thoughts. It was one week before my certification exam, and i was wrought with anxiety. I was terrified that i would get to the exam, and know none of it. After i read your blog, i felt so much more at ease. I kept telling myself in the exam, the lord had gotten me this far, he wont let me down. And by the grace of god, i passed my exam! God is good, all the time! Thanks for reminding me of that!!!

  99. Thank you so much for this! I needed this as I am going into midterms this week and felt a bit anxious. Your first verse Matthew 6:33-34 is my favorite verse and I lost sight of it this weekend! But I now feel renewed! Thank you

  101. All i can say is thank you for going with God and now showing us the way. I have being struggling and have lost focus of his help and provisions even when it comes to my school work. Fear had taken me over but this morning i give him thanks..

  102. Hi Nathan
I was so blessed with your testimony and encouragment. My son is a second year Aeronautical engineer student at Wits university in south Africa and I came accross your blog. I prayed and spoke every one of these scriptures into his life and career. So amazing that God uses people like you to recharge and encourage us. Amen so blessed. He loves the Lord and is also a musician and is part of the praise n worship team at hillsongs Johannesburg. So yes God will honour those that put him and seek him first. Stay blessed.

  103. thanks for your blog . and for me when i saw book you read it encouraged me to start read again christian literature . And these verses collection and the order is so perfect that it change my focus from me to God.

  104. Thank you Nathan! I am 3 days away from another Nursing exam. Like you, I get lost in studying and lose track of priorities, but God is faithful, and He led me to your encouraging post. Praise be to Him! I plan to memorize some of the verses you posted so that in times of need they will encourage me. It is so wonderful to know there are godly Christ centered brothers and sisters around the world! 🙂

  105. Hi! Thank you so much for writing this! I am a first year PA student and never struggled in undergrad or graduate school but this program has been a whole different battlefield for me. I realized the more I struggled, the more stressed and upset I would get and the less time I was giving God. He turned things around for me last semester then I fell right back into the same rut this semester. When I started putting Him very first every day and praying thought out the day, I saw a HUGE jump in my test scores!! We’re nearing the end of this semester and I am feeling so overwhelmed and like it’s not possible for me to make it through to be able to start clinical rotations in June (I have to make certain grades on these last exams and standardized patients to move on to the next step and I’m borderline in one class!) due to this, I have been feeling so much pressure and anxiety coming back. I searched online for “scriptures for test anxiety” and found this entry. I’m so glad God brought me to this because it’s exactly what I needed. It restored the faith that was trying to leave me and erased the doubts in my head. I have faith that God will see me through this journey he has brought me on and all things will happen according to His will!

  106. Reblogged this on Faithfully me, and commented:
This was too good not to share. For those currently in their exam season (like me) – here is a reminder of God’s promises towards you in this season and ultimately a reminder of his love. Be encouraged ❤️ You’re not alone 👊🏾💪🏾

  107. Hi Nathan,
Confused on how to pray for my husbands exams led to a Google search that led to this amazing blog.
Thank you so much. May God bless you abundantly.

  108. Hey Nathan,

I am a Christian lady who always dreaded exams, i would become anxious during an exam, and never believed a can ever pass an exam. But I came across your blog on google while looking for scriptures to motivate me while studying. I believe this scriptures will definitely help me find comfort in God
Thank you so much for the scriptures. They will really help me during my exams, not only that but also uplift my faith and look unto God no matter what the outcome. He always has the final say. I have so many different courses i am doing but i believe if i seek him i will manage to pass them all. But I just pray his will be done in my life, I am not looking at the things of this world but i look to God.

    Once again thank you

  109. Dear Nathan
Thank you very much for these verses was writing an assignment for Charity development Fundraising degree and I couldn’t put things on paper and I had no clue on how to start the assignment I looked for verses for encouragement and came across your blog, thank you again you have helped me to surrender all my worries to God sometimes because of pressure I forget to cast all my burdens to him. Iam using the verses and now can see the light

  110. Hi Nathan.I was looking for scriptures on success on the internet and stumbled upon your post, I know its not a coincidence, I’m not even done reading your post but i’m already excited because I know there’s hope for me.My case is a little different because I’ve just written an exam called Primaries (an exam that enables one start residency programme if you pass) and I’ve been privileged to know my result before it’s released to the general public, Unfortunately the person who helped me check said i didn’t pass; this news has made me really really really sad and worried, but I’ve decided to trust God for a big miracle when the result is published. I must confess that during the period of preparation for the exam i almost totally forgot God, was too busy reading and preparing forgetting what and who truly matters. I’ve asked God for forgiveness and I’m trusting him to come true for me as nothing is impossible with God. Thank you very much for your post. God bless you.

  111. I typically typed in “Bible verses for studying” for the pas 6 months and this page pops up every time. it helped in my January exams, and it will help me in my finals. Thank you SO much for this.. most useful blog page EVER. You Rock. God Bless x

  112. Hi! I’m a first year medical student in the US. I am struggling quite a bit. After reading this post, I feel a lot better and calmer. Thanks for sharing these bible verses. They are very motivational. I hope I can be in your shoes one day, having successfully graduated from med school. I do have a special request to make. Can you please pray for me? I really want to be able to pass all my classes this Spring semester. Thank you 🙂

  113. Hey Nathan,

I was looking for encouraging Bible passages for my daughter that has been studying so hard for her coming exams and it is encouraging to stumble across your blog. 114. Well praise be to God. My final exams are tomorrow. My journey through medical school has not been a spectacular one but I am relaxed and feeling God’s presence with me. 119. saw this in my newsfeed, my final med exams in 14 days!! thanks so much for this, it really helps! Thanks from all the way from Malaysia 🙂

  120. Thank you for posting and sharing this! I am starting back at college. I used to be really good at my academic work, but that was back in high school and I think it is because I have been burnt out.I already feel like I will fail even though I know I have that potential. I plan on writing or copying down the verses you posted and taping all of them on my wall. God bless you!

  121. Hi,
I read this blog and left a comment about a year ago. I have an offer for medicine in the UK and I’m about to do my final A Level exams. I needed some encouragement and the first place I thought of was this blog. This blog, and all the scriptures in it, helped me then and is helping me now . Once again I’m very grateful. I feel so much better after reading this. All the glory belongs to God.

  122. Thankyou very much Nathan. Thank you for taking time to post these verses as per situations.may you never loose ur zeal for God.. May you always be complete in d LORD.

  123. Hi Nathan,
I too am a medical student in my final year. I have found your posts really encouraging and that with God’s grace you rose from difficult circumstances. Your posts give me the motivation to keep studying. I have a question which is troubling me. My parents are doctors and looking at them since childhood I always wanted to be like them. I had interest in medicine too. But my academic record has never been that of a bright student. In fact, in my school days I was not much interested in studies. But now gradually I am developing interest in my studies. I got into a medical college which is good enough but not the best. When I look around I see that there are many more intelligent and skilled people other than me who can become good doctors. I feel totally unintelligent and unskilled for this huge responsibility. My parents have always supported me but maybe because of my low self esteem I feel dumb. Plus , am scared of graduating as a doctor with little practical knowledge. That thought gives me sleepless nights. I am not able to understand God’s will for my life. Does He want me to be a doctor? Am I meant to be one? Or is He telling me that this is not for me, though somewhere I’ve always loved this field and have wanted to be one, but do not feel worthy enough. I want to know what God wants from me.
    Thank you
    Yours…
    Clueless

  124. Greetings from Canada! Thank you so much for this incredible compilation of verses. I will be writing my CFA exam on Saturday and I was starting to feel very anxious. Reading these verses have given me a tremendous sense of calm and peace. God bless you!

  125. Jesus is a good God, He is holy and blameless, and He never blaming us too..unlike our earthly professor, lecturer, teacher, friends, husband, wife, children, grandma, grandpa who keep blaming us forever for anything and everything which went wrong…right? Thanks for sharing.

  126. Hi Nathan, I am a Baha’i lady with a very close Christian friend who is non-practicing. I was at a loss about how to take away her sadness, and therefore thought what could be better than finding her some versus to show her why God sends us test. Thanks so much for your site. I am cutting a pasting some of the quotes to make her something nice.

  128. Wow Nathan, thank you for writing this post. May God bless you for the powerful message you have shared with me here. You are a true testimony for God, and I truly feel that this post acted as a vessel for God to give me what I needed.

I am currently studying to retake the Part B of the Florida Bar Exam (law). I passed Part A because I turned to God. I walked right by His side, and I held on to Him tight as I fought my way through both parts of the exam. Amen.

Now, 6 month later, it’s round two, and I am “back in the ring” to retake Part B at the end of this Month. But the truth is- I know that I have not been turning to God this time around. I have shut him out, and I am sort of stumbling around trying to study.

I love God, I’m not losing my faith in Him, but basically, I have been feeling burned out, bored, lazy, afraid, and unmotivated.

However, because God gives me more than I deserve, my spirit jumped inside me today and it finally hit me, like “AAAHHH what am I doing?!!” and “God, Im sorry! I need you now!!”. This lead me to Google search bible verses on motivation, where your link basically leap off the page at me.

Reading your post, reading your affirmations, reading God’s word that you laid out for me, something hit me and I began to cry. I cried as I felt the heavy, hardness of my heart melt away. I turned back to God. I am holding on and I will not let go, as I start this next journey of growth with Him.

Nathan, thank you for that. This was a really good deed you did by sharing this. May God bless you!

Also, for whomever it may help, these three verses really helped me while studying the first time around: Jeremiah 29-11; Hebrews 6-11, and Proverbs 13-4. Amen!

  129. It’s 7:39 AM and I am in my hotel room’s bathroom crying my heart out as I am reading this blog post. I am about to take my make or break practical exams today at 11:00 AM here in England. I am a nurse by profession from the Philippines, and these practicals will decide whether I will be qualified in this country or not. I am crying because this post reminds me that I should not worry at all. That I should just rest in God’s love and His finished work on the cross. His grace never runs out. // Days before this exam I have doubted myself and lost my self confidence. I became negative about it. But then I can lose all the confidence and faith in myself, as long as I don’t lose my trust in Him, because nothing is impossible with Him. And I don’t rely solely in my strength because I cannot do this without Him. // I am doing this for my family and we find strength in each other, with God always there. I’ve been through several exams and I know with this final one, God will again tell me, “Don’t worry, my child. I got this.”
Thank you so much for this post. I feel much better now. I can dry my tears and stand tall and proud because I know, I have the mind of Christ.

  130. Hi Nathan, thank you for this post. I am in the youth ministry and have some of my youths struggling with their exams and I really like to encourage forward with God in view. I will surely share with them the verses you have posted here, for their encouragement and also to take heart that our God is always with them! God bless, and may you experience even more of His grace and love in your daily encounters too! Praise Him 🙂

  131. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post. I am truly blessed and encouraged to do well in my upcoming licensure examination. Truly, God never fails. God bless.

  133. Thank-you so much …..it’s been very helpful! I will always keep you in my prayers. may your help reach everyone who is in need of knowing about God. I’m greatful to you…..

  134. I needed this. you are def being used. I appreciate this so much. When no-one understands what you have to do even if you tried to explain. This is exactly what i need now.

  135. Hi Nathan,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write out these Scriptures and share it with the World. The Word of God is active and Powerful no matter how many times we may have read it or heard it before.

I am currently a few weeks away from sitting my final Professional Licencing exam to become a qualified GP in the UK (that is after failing the Exam Twice, already).

As you can imagine, I am pretty demotivated, tired and feel despondent.
Although I do read my Bible and pray everyday, I just feel all my strength is sapped…and have no confidence in myself at all.

Please don’t get me wrong, I am still persevering with my studies, doing all that I can.

Reading your Blog has actually given me Renewed Strength in so many ways. There are a few verses that I would like to meditate on and will as the Exam draws nearer.

Congratulations once again on passing your exams.

I would also like to implore and encourage you as you journey through your Medical career not to Compromise God’s Standards in anyway. The examples that stand out to me from the Bible are Joseph and Daniel. I pray we will not loose sight of God despite the pressures in our line of work, and even when we see others cutting corners…as you have rightly quoted, the Lord will continue to empower us to do and be are best at All times…because He’s always watching. Amen

Secondly, I was really encouraged by your text about failure.
The first time I experienced academic failure in my entire life was during the interim pre-clinical exams in medical school. It was such a humbling experience.
Despite being a Christian my whole life, it was actually the first time I felt I truely needed to rely on God and come off my high horse as a high achiever.

I have since learned than when we walk with God, Failures in the physical realm (ie the seen world) can sometimes mean that God is calling our attention to something that needs to be put right in the Spiritual realm (unseen realm).

Romans 8:28 thus encourages me a lot!!

    Thank you so much Nathan

May the Lord continue to increase you in every area of your life, you and your family.

Pls do pray for me concerning my exam.
And like you, may the Lord grant me His Grace and Mercy to pass this exam in Jesus Name, Amen

  136. I saved this page as one of my “favorites”. I look at this blog at least every couple of days because I lean on God more than ever these days. I’m in my last year of graduate school and taking a 14-unit course load this semester, so everything feels so overwhelming. This blog is a great source of encouragement for me. Thank you so much for this!

  137. Great post! Still ministering to me as I am preparing for my comprehensive exams in graduate school. Thank you for allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you and encourage me in this time.

  138. Hi Nathan,
Thank you so much for sharing the word of GOD. It’s encourage me to work on my spiritual relationship to HIM. Lately, I feel depressed since I’ve got low grades in my special degree courses. I feel anxious and afraid that i might lose my scholarship. Your post made me realize that i lack of something and that is GOD.

  139. Hi Nathan , I am really encouraged by what you have shared. I am about to sit for my Biology paper and physics paper and three i have done it . I was really depressed and was thinking what to do. I believe that seeking God and trusting in him will deliver us. I am also interested in doing MBBS and praying that God will open doors by going nigh to him.God Bless you and your career. Thanks.

  140. Praise God for this blog its really comforts me,with this post I am motivated again and pursuing not to give up,before I read this blog I’m quietly in pain from failing my Exam for Board of Agriculture but now I know that “GOD KNOWS BEST.IF HIS WILL IS FOR ME TO FAIL,ITS BECAUSE HE HAS THE REASONS.AND I KNOW ONE DAY,WHETHER IN HEAVEN OR ON EARTH,I WILL REALIZE HIS WILL.,and one verse touched me in Psalms 27:13-14 …
And I thank God for using you to post this kind of verses…I will pray the our Lord continue to bless you….

  143. Man, this is just what I am needing during this current time in my life. Thanks for creating this blog. I listened to a sermon today about how to stand on The Word of God through faith, and as I need is just one bible verse to depend on throughout my situation. So I Google’d a bible verses for passing test. Lord behold your blog popped up and you gave me 65 verse lol. I need this to pass my promotional test exams for the military and every other test for the rest of my life. Thank you for your testimony, God is going to continue to bless you for this!

I just want to thank you and most of all show God how grateful I am by doing my best for him. May God bless you, and thanks again.

  145. Dear Nathan, thank you so much for sharing these verses. As I am praying for my son’s exam now, God’s word gave me confidence that he will fulfill his purpose for my son. I will use your blog here to teach them God’s commandments and set their eyes on Jesus first, May God bless you!

  146. Hi Nathan,
I’m so encouraged by the verses you’ve shared on your blog. I was googling scripture verses of encouragement during exams because my son is in grad school studying for his Master’s and his first semester exams are on. I sent him the link and I know these verses will encourage him as they have encouraged me. God bless you! You’re an inspiration to us! I pray millions will be inspired to pursue Jesus through your blog.

  147. Hi Nathan!
You have blessed me beyond words! I am preparing for my comprehensive exams and research proposal for my doctorate and have been feeling so overwhelmed. I know there is power in the Word of God, but couldn’t pull together the verses that I needed to speak. Thank you for taking the time to share!!!

  148. Nathan, Thank you very much for this blog. Stumbled by your blog as I was searching for biblical perspective on exams. Am currently studying for my bridging modules to be eligible for a physical therapy masters. My degree is irrelevant in that I did Computer Science, I’m studying just to be EVEN be eligible and it’s already a whole chunk of information that is hard to digest quickly Thank you for your blog. When I’m stressed, this is my go to.

  149. Nathan, thanks so much for allowing God to use you and I know HE is still using you in diverse ways to touch lives.
I am preparing for an exam and decided to search for scriptures on exam and just found your site…can’t describe the feeling and joy that came over me. God bless you and I pray that HE will continue to increase your knowledge of HIM and HIS greatness.

  150. Nathan,

Thank you for this blog. I graduated from nursing school and I’m taking my nclex tomorrow morning. I’ve been having a hard time with anxiety and feeling like I’m ready for this and I’m so glad I found your page! I get encouragement from people all the time but encouragement from the Lord and his word is what I need. Thank you!

  151. Nathan, Thank you so so so very much. And i know and believe that God will see me through in my exam review in march as i meditate on this wonderful chosen bible verses. Really need this right now. Thank you once again. God bless you.

  152. Hi Nathan ! Prayers and blessings for you and yours. I’m searching for a specific verse, similar but not Luke. ” you will succeed (or maybe have succeeded) in this test. I had my RN clinical nursing exams at Grady hospital in Atlanta , Georgia. When my patient care and charting were being evaluated I was told to wait in the staff lounge. Cell phones were not allowed and I didn’t think to write down the source verse and author. I’m thinking Isaiah but not sure. I’m sitting there a little worried when I noticed the white board with the verse, wondering…. thinking about the next steps in my future. Wondering… thinking this verse was not necessarily for me. The evaluator I could see pouring over my stuff… maybe an hour later, she walked in and said, “Now that you’re a nurse …”

It was a Sunday and I had passed ! Later I learned that 2 or 3 of us, out of 10, passed.

I asked the shuttle driver if he could recommend a place to eat then pick me up after for a ride back to the hotel. This driver I had noticed, always had hiswell worn bible with him.

A restaurant was recommended and when I got there, I was told that supper would start in about 2 hours. I asked if there was a Catholic Church nearby, and I took a walk of only a couple blocks. No chance there’d be a Mass, right? Well, there was , but it’d started already. I walked in just a little late, the priest was talking. A little embarrassed, I had to sit in a crowded pew. As I sat down, the priest was saying, “now that you’ve passed this test, much will be asked of you. “. I couldn’t help it as tears flowed. Since then I’ve found a church, Valley Bible Church, in Hercules , CA, and am involved in Bible Studies. I know the Bible says the same things in different ways by different authors, and I’d dearly love to find the exact one that I saw and heard from different people on the same afternoon. Praise God.

  153. Hi Nathan,

I would like to thank you for the verses the you had shared and for reminding me to always lean on God and not on my own understanding. Months ago, I am always worrying with my IELTS exam, how to get the required band for my stay here iin Australia. Fortunately, I browse this website of yours, and I exhausted reading the verses and forget about my review. From then on I stopped worrying and relaxed. During the exam days, all I did was talked to our Dear Lord God and requested to stay with me and guide me and show the right answer.

After 13 days of waiting, notice from the idp came out and informing that I had passed the exam. My soul is full of glory and thanksgiving to our Lord God.

This is a live testimony that God will guide us no matter what just ask and it shall be provided.

    Cheers,
    Dhon G

  154. Pingback: Scriptures for your Studying – Enrika Creates

  155. God bless you dear sir for this truly uplifting message. I only had one thing I think should be tweaked and that is the idea that it maybe God’s will for us to fail. I am also a medical doctor, just recently graduated (Praise God!). In the course of my study, I failed two crucial exams-2nd MBBS and Paediatrics. They were all very agonizing realities and the Lord saw me through every one of them. But even greater, He made beautiful experiences come out of all the pain like only He can. One of the first things I painfully had to learn though during my healing process was this: it was NOT God’s will for me to fail. And while there are so many scriptures I could use to reinforce this truth, I’d stick with one- 2 Corinthians 2:14
“Now thanks be unto God, which ALWAYS causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place”
So the big question was why then did I fail if this was God’s will?? After all, I did do everything I thought I was supposed to. Why risk the whole shame and embarrassment to Your Name Lord, especially when everyone knew I was a practicing believer?

Part of the answer was found in Luke 18:22
    “…Yet lackest thou one thing…”
Christ loved the person He was referring to in this verse and was showing him a more excellent way. The truth is this: I had not learnt all I needed to at that level. Be it the main theroretical course itself, a certain skill or a character trait. I had NOT learnt despite the opportunity to.

There is an enormous picture that God sees that we don’t. Our dear Father is in the business of molding Kings and Priests that would bring His Kingdom here on earth, jugde angels, reign with Him, etc 1 Corinthians 6:3, Revelations 1:6; 20:6; 22:5

He therefore cannot afford to produce half-baked, immature children with diminished sensitive to His Holy Spirit. He would rather allow the failure occur and He stand with you through it all than allow you succeed on frail foundation Psalms 11:3

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

Basically, it is NOT His will for His children to fail. This knowledge drives us to find the “one thing” (or things) we lack and by His Grace, overcome the hurdle and be the better for it.

Other than this little tweak, this post is rock-solid. God bless you beaucoup sir 🙂

    • Wow. God bless you. Not only was this post encouraging and faith-filled but so is your comment was. I am literally in tears as I am writing this. Thank you so much.

  156. Hey there Nathan!

Just found your blog as I was stressing about my math finals tomorrow. I’m so glad God led me to find it and it was truly inspiring and motivational to go through this article you’ve written! I have faith, hope and assurance that God will reward me justly from the outcome of tomorrow’s exam. I hope you did great in your med exams, too! I can’t wait to go through your blog more tomorrow; it looks really cool! Have a fantastic and blessed day- many many thanks for the beautiful commentary and verse compilation!!

  157. I just want to thank you for this. I’m a married mom of four kids ages 11, 5, 4 and 2 and I’m working full time and doing a full time RN program online with clinicals on some weekends. I’ve been having a rough time the last week and I’m only half way through this semester and won’t graduate until December. I was having a really rough time last night redoing an assignment that I realized I had done wrong. I turned it in not quite finished the way it was supposed to be, and so I was really beating myself up over it and feeling like a failure. This page has been really encouraging and made me realize to turn to Christ for help through school and not my own self. I really needed this. Thanks so much. God bless you.

  158. Thank you so much for your inspiring words. I taught God want my failure because after all this years I could not practice medicine because I could not pass the boards. I invested money. time wasting ect. I live a very embarrassing time . I tried to give up all. Until last year I had the urge to try back again. I’m study right now but I will continue to use these verses to help me with my journey. Philippians 4:13 said
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

    Thanks again!

Like you, I sometimes forget about my priorities, most especially my time with God. Im so thankful that I’ve read your blog. It’s as if God is really talking to me. Keep on inspiring more people.

  169. This was absolutely wonderful. My freshman son who is in pre-med undergrad called me last night absolutely panicked about exams starting up this week. I googled exams, anxiety and Bible verses. This came up and I couldn’t believe the perfectness for what I was looking for. I quickly sent him this link. He struggles with anxiety anyway and is very hard on himself. I’m just praying God will give him a peace through this journey. Any words of advice from someone who is just starting this journey?

Thank you so much for this blog. I am a nursing student and in my final year. I am from Trinidad and Tobago. But God is so amazing that he never leaves us alone, so I google and came across you blog. Thank you for the scriptures and I plan to say one with every topic i pick up. I am asking that you can pray for me as I go though this week. I thank God for you and continue to be a blessing.

  173. This Blog have really helped me, especially with how I actually need to give everything to God. I am currently a student studying in the Fiji Islands, this is in the South Pacific. I was overwhelmed with how many blessings and assurances God has promised through his word. It is such a blessing to know that our future in his hands. He is not blind to our circumstances, he will see to it that we just need to trust him. I am so grateful that I came across this blog, where God had to remind me again that with him by my side he will see me through it, and with him nothing is impossible. I got discouraged with my Coursework as this would determine my final grade, I was upset and then I came across this blog it helped me redirect my focus on my heavenly father and I know that I need to be still and know that he is still in control. Wishing all the best to everyone preparing for finals in Universities, I would just like to remind us if God is with us and is for us let us rejoice, with him nothing is impossible. God bless 🙂
    Regards,
    Ala

  193. Hi,
It is so surprising am just coming across your article, currently am in a phase where am questioning myself and God that, “wat exactly am I doing here as a medical student” but one of your written quotes on your blog says “you weren’t chosen because you were perfect for the task. God deliberately chose you in spite of your weakness” am going to hold on to this very tightly… thank you for this, God bless you.

    • This is exactly the one scripture that spoke right through me. I am even more shocked that you questioned yourself with the exact same words I said to myself then scrolled down and saw this!

-I trust that God has brought us here for a reason and He will never bring us this far to abandon us.

God chooses the weak to shame the strong, He chooses what is considered foolish to this world to shame the wise! He WILL SURELY FINISH what He has started in Jesus name.

I will return to this message shortly and I know it will be a testimony for all of us in Jesus name.

May His peace remain with you Blessing & to all x

I’m currently in the midst of studying for my board exams here in the US, and to say it has been overwhelming would be huge understatement. My comfort has been that it really is all in His hands and that I will get exactly the score I need for whatever God’s plan may be for me in the future. Anyways, when I came across your post, it actually brought me to tears– these were exactly the words I needed to read at this moment. So, even four years later, God is still helping those who follow him through your post. Thanks so much brother. God bless.

Hallelujah to our God! Thanking Him for the double-portion anointing and all His wisdom, discernment, and power!

  202. Thank you for sharing this. I have this bookmarked and today was one of those days I needed a reminder of why I am in medical school..To move past my failures and stop looking at what’s behind me but looking toward what’s ahead of me. Also of how the Lord has brought me through each difficulty to be victories. Reminding myself of that truth and getting rid of the doubts that fog my mind. So thank you brother for the share. God bless!

  203. I love this so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’ve been meaning to compile a list of verses that will help me get through this journey full of mountains and valleys, and the verses on this list have definitely made it on there.

Also, just to add on, I love that Jesus isn’t just interested about physical healing. He’s infinitely more concerned about the condition of the soul– which is poor in all of us. Peep @ Mark 2:5-12 , Mark 8:23-25.
Keeps me humble in knowing that medicine isn’t an end-all, but rather a means to glorify God and bring people to Him.

PS — Especially enjoyed seeing my favorite on here — “Set your mind on things above.” Ugh. ❤

    Thanks!
From, a 3rd yr premed hoping to get into medical school!

  204. Thank you for this. I needed this so badly. God is so good and I have not been making Him a priority, as a result I’ve been feeling pretty burnt out lately.

  207. Hello Nathan
I am glad I came across your blog. I am a nursing school graduate who graduated a couple of years ago. Seems like shortly after getting through school my life started to spiral in another direction before I could sit for board examination….. to top it all off, my mom suddenly passed and life became very difficult to deal with. As you can imagine, I lost focused… hope… and became very depressed. I am a christian and I knew that God had brought me through those tough school years, however, I’d had a hard time becoming motivated to even start back studying. I pushed myself last year in Aug to take it and failed…. I’m preparing myself to go back at it soon as this is my last year that I can attempt to sit for my license. I have test anxiety and after sometime of being out of school I’m relearning much of the content. The scriptures you have provided…. I sat and wrote them all down along with the headings you have above them so that I may revert back to areas that I need while I am studying. Thank you for this, it was much needed … May God continue to bless you!

  208. Hi Nathan
I found encouragement in reading your blog. I believe God led me to your blog. I am currently doing a degree and I feel I need to reconnect with Jesus again and forever.
You’ve picked some of the most encouraging verses in the bible. May God keep you and I am certain that this blog will continue to touch lives who are going through a similar situation.
I trust God that your exams were a success and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
    God bless you.

  209. Hi Nathan,

This comment comes some years on after you wrote this but I also want to say thank you to you and to Jesus for helping and I guess inspiring you to share and be honest about your struggles and trials while studying medicine. As well as compiling and organising these relevant verses. I haven’t read through all of them but the ones I did read really blessed me.

Starting my induction tomorrow for a degree in Leadership and Management which I’m sure isn’t as hard a medicine but I know I need God’s help all the same!

If you see this please say a prayer for me and I pray that you’ll always have a deep heart trust and reliance on Jesus. Also for you to always have a vision that is bigger than yourself that you can only achieve with His help. As well as the main thing of keeping Him first and having a ever growing relationship with Him.

    God bless you friend!

  210. Hi Nathan, i dont know how to thank you, indeed God led me to your blog, currently am so stressed about so many issues concerning my studies , but i feel am blessed already. i will go through the verses and with so much meditation , i believe God will see me through my journey.may God bless you abundantly, pray for me too ,

  211. Nathan,
I was so stressed about my last term of lpn school and having sleepless Night. I got up this morning to pray to God for help then I came across your blog. It is very powerful and encouraging. I forgot that God called me to become a nurse it is not my will but I know from your testimony that he will see me through despite my weakness. Thanks so much for this. I will focus more on God than on my exams and quizzes because he will do the rest after I have learned. He has so much for me and to my understanding God called us to become what God want us to become. He is the God of today, tomorrow and forever. Amen.Once again thank you for encouraging me and not loosing hope. I know he will do all things and God will let me pass my exams and nclex. Amen. Keep praying for us all.

  212. Hi Nathan,
I thank God for you and I am grateful that He is using you to reach out to others like me. I’m a 3rd year medical student and struggling with fear of questions = Boards 😦 , lack of confidence, and doubt. The Lord has been working with me patiently and I am learning to trust Him and be free of all the burdens of medicine and life. For the past week, I have been feeling a bit distant from the Lord. I have desire to seek Him daily and read my bible and pray. Then I realize that I don’t like to read; especially my Bible. So today I was searching for a student prayer before I start studying and I came across your blog and I must say God has lead me to your blog. Every bible verse you write about (fear, anxiety, seeking God first, God working for our good, talents He gives us, and working on our purpose) is like God Himself reminding about where He took me and where He is leading me. I knew becoming a medical student is for God’s Glory, otherwise I would not be here writing this to you. But your blog is helping to know that there are many other medical professionals seeking God as well and it really is a blessing. You inspire me to keep reaching higher, to look up to God and seek His face and to keep believing that NOTHING I mean NOTHING is impossible with God. I am grateful for you. Thank you and may the Lord bless you.

PS: I used to break down the word “impossible” into “I’m possible” and our God is the Great I AM.
    Thought I’d share this.

Hi Nathan, God bless you real good. I was searching for bible verses that talked about academic success then I stumbled on this blog. I have my medical licensing exam [PLAB] to write in 3 days to come so the bible portions here have really inspired me in accordance with God’s word in Proverbs 21:31. I have claimed all the success promises herein and trust that God will make a name through my success. Thank you, my colleague, Dr. Nathan keep up the good work for our job is ‘ CARING FOR THE WHOLE MAN SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY’. God will help us, when I visit Australia I will like to meet you in person. 250. Hello, there Nathan. I am grateful for your blog, just came across it while fasting for my exams and i am eternally grateful. Thank you so much. I have been challenged without motivation to study, but your blog helped me greatly. God bless you for putting this up.

  251. I am preparing for my medical entrance examination and was feeling so demotivated…The outcomes so far have all been against my goal of getting an mbbs admission. My marks for pre mock exams remain 150 less than my dream marks for securing an admission. Even after all this I haven’t given up yet cuz I believe that even if no one is with me he the good lord jesus will always be with me through thick and thin and will give me what I deserve in the best way possible…These bible verses really put my hopes up and I’m saving it for later…Thank u for this and kindly offer me too some prayers so I’d clear this NEET medical entrance exam
