I’m a junior doctor from Adelaide, Australia.
I grew up going to a local church since I was a kid. But church was mainly an outlet for me to hang out with nice people and make friends outside of school. A lot of it was ‘going through the motions’.
In 2010, a series of bizarre and unusual things occurred in my life that I couldn’t explain. I felt God in my life in a real and personal way for the first time and became a Christian. I intensely studied the Bible and had a really enjoyable 2 years.
In 2012, my sister suddenly and unexpectedly committed suicide. In a coincidence, I created this blog at the same time it happened. It became a place for me to express my raw emotions during the worst time of my life.
Over the next few years, I continued to write as a way to process grief, and the problems I faced during medical school. I somehow managed to continue my studies and passed all my exams over the next few years.
In 2016, I graduated and got married. I worked as a doctor for 2 years in hospital. There were great times, but also very bad times. I became burned out and exhausted. I realised that a big part of this was that I was still grieving and confused about my past.
In 2018, I deferred my training to be a GP (Family Doctor) to take a year off. I am now travelling the world with my wife as a way to take a break and work through things by asking questions of the world and of Christianity.
This blog continues to be a series of short stories from my life to explore my spirituality and worldview. Some posts will be overtly about spirituality, others will not.
I testify that everything I write on this blog is completely true.
